Great MK802 IV Review by Tommas
Received the Mini MK802 IV today. I attached power supply, USB dongle for a keyboard/mouse, HDMI cable attached to a flat screen and plugged it in. Booted right up, I clicked on settings, found my router and it attached first try. Documentation booklet is weak. I've been running this non-stop for 6 hours no real issues found but it is a little hot. It's a little difficult to use my mini keyboard/mouse for some functions, as my experiance with android is on a tablet only. It takes some getting used to doing similar swipe functions.

So far so good Review by Icese
The wifi works great although I use it in a building that has thick walls and interference. I was using a Motorola Laptop for monitor and a keyboard, which has to be hooked up to one of the MK802iv's USB ports for keyboard and mouse to work but it is designed to also power the device over this same port. Unfortunately, I found the Laptop was not able to provide enough power alone and the device would brown out somewhere around 1A. So I also plugged in a power adapter to the device's DC port. In a word, it works well and brings me great enjoyment. (Posted on 6/25/13)
MK802 IV as an entertainment unit Review by Chris
When I ordered the MK802 IV, I had a vision in mind. I would hook it up to my TV and it would take care of all my internet browsing, casual gaming and movie/television watching needs.

So, I ordered a cheap USB hub, a 1 TB external USB hard drive, and a bluetooth mouse and keyboard for my coffee table. I got the unit, connected everything (after sawing a hole in the side and pulling out the antennae for better wifi). I put on a mame emulator and all my roms on the external HD. I installed MX player, and dumped a bunch of movie and TV files to the HD. I installed a word processor, some app tools and a bittorrent client.

Some issues I've been having:
(1) I can't seem to disable the android on-screen keyboard. In the settings it looks like this option exists, but it is grayed out. i just want to use my wireless one, but the on-screen one keeps popping up and doesn't seem to always accept input from the wireless one.
(2) My mame emulator doesn't seem to want to load ROMs from the external HD. Has anyone done this? -I can't even seem to be able to open a text file from the external HD.
(3) Can I install apps/games onto the USB external HD? I have 1 TB space there, but only a little bit on the MK 802 IV.

Anyways, besides that, I'm just kind of fishing for suggestions, tips, good apps, cool ideas. (Posted on 6/24/13)
Recommended Accessories Review by Jonhe
I'm using the RIkomagic MK802 IV as a mini PC attached to a computer monitor.

I've successfully used 2 different key boards / mice combos:

a) Logitech K520 key board & M310 Mouse;
b) Microsoft Wireless Comfort Keyboard 5000 & 5000 Mouse;

However out of the two sets, I prefer the Microsoft set, as the mouse has 2 extra buttons on each side (by your thumb and your small finger) that allow you to go page backwards or forwards in browser windows. It really makes using browsers more functional.

Also, since I'm attaching the MK802 IV to a computer monitor, there isn't a HMDI input in the monitor. There is a DVI input, but the connections are different, so an adapter would be needed; But using this type of adapter, the audio is lost from the HMDI. So what can be done, is to use bluetooth to send audio out to wireless speakers. (Posted on 6/21/13)
Alan Review by nice android device
Here are some instructions for you to use MK802 IV

first thing to do is to connect your device to your computer and let it try to install the drivers but it should and will most likely fail - this is normal

leave the device connected and then if you have a win7 pc go to start/control panel/system/system device manager and note any yellow ! and click on them and select "update driver" - then you need to select "browse my computer for driver software" then navigate to the location that you saved the extracted driver folder to and select it... this should fix the driver issue and this will allow for the tool to recognize your device

once you have the driver issue sorted then go to the "tool" folder and select the "rkbatch tool application" and grant it permission to make changes to your computer then in the top window called "FW Path" on the right side of it you see "..." - click it and navigate to where you saved the new firmware update and select the firmware - then you should see the location of the firmware in that top window

next - click "upgrade" and it should begin the flashing process... you should see progress of flashing in the large middle window of the tool and when it completes it should say finished... simply unplug from your computer and connect to tv and power on and enjoy the update

again only some of this info is 100% accurate and use it with caution but this is same process for other rockchip devices and until I upgrade my own device I can not guarantee this process for the mk802IV

my operating system is 64bit win7 pc and the hardest part of the whole process in the past for me was getting the drivers to properly initialize/install....hopefully this tutorial is simple enough for those that are brand new to android (Posted on 6/20/13)
Functional and latest MK802 IV Review by Emily
I am so happy that Rikomagic launched the latest Mini PC MK802 IV, a tiny device which, for less than $100, brought Android to your TV and could make it a smart TV out of the box.

The MK802 series are mini computers the size of a usb key running Android, that connect to your TV with an HDMI cable.This turns your TV into a smart TV for a minimal cost and at an extremely low power consumption. These Mini PCs can be used as HD Media Players, retro gaming consoles, bittorrent clients, ftp server inside your house, etc… (Posted on 6/18/13)
